A New Dawn with Denim Kurti Dress : New Jersey Feat, Myntra

In the metamorphosis called life,

Myntra has always been one of my favorite online shopping jaunts back in India and just before coming to US, my heart flew for this beautiful denim kurti style dress. I loved the contrasting yellow embroidery on it and the overall fit. Ever since it was kept in my wardrobe, folded and every time I would take out I would think this time for sure..

So, as you all know Fall has arrived in New York area and its started to get a little cold at times. Denim is a perfect choice for Fall because its relativity thicker in texture, and the length of this dress is perfect for covering my legs from getting cold. So standing on the riverfront, I thought let’s click some pictures from my camera and there we go! How I miss Myntra here and how I wish we had similar ecommerce site in US or probably we do have which I do not know of yet.

Between time has come such that people don’t even look at roads. When I was shooting with my camera with remote, a guy had come for pest control spray on the pavement. He told me so I moved inside. There was this lady oblivious of him in front texting on her mobile with her head down, she stood there for 10 minute and at last I said to her ‘Miss, this gentleman needed to spray so if you could move’.

Talking of the poem above, we all say pain is bad. But bad is not pain. Bad is how we perceive pain. Pain has given me the best lessons and the worst encounters. I don’t think I regret it, its only made me stronger and today I am clearer than I had ever been before.

Westside Stores and The Native Village:Color Block

Me and my mom used to be a big fan of Westside when we were living in Kolkata about 7-8 years back. We would go solely to the store to grab our own piece of Kurta to pair it up with jeans. We used to mainly go there because the prices used to be very very reasonable Rs 299, 399 for kurtis , Rs 399 + for dress and etc compared to other brands and the stuff very decent.

This dress of all the collection that I have stocked up in past many years is one of my favorite. It isn't any flimsy color block dress, its a dress with a colors and a silver border and the material of it is very silk like. I wish they start making more like them like how it used to be once when they would come up with new creations and designs.

When they come up with gorgeous pieces of fusion like these once in a while, I start loving them all over again.

However, over the years I have seen them growing up to be huge on simplistic and youthful. They have many in-house brands as well. Nuon seems to be one of them that targets basically teens and mid 20's. Bombay Paisley is a fusion of Indian inspired bohemian prints and etc.Gia is for plus sizes. Zuba is for sophisticated Indian hand woven fabrics and etc and etc and etc.

This classification has contributed to increase in price making it no less than the average Kurti rates we get in market with other brands. I.e Kurti for Rs 699, 799 etc making it no longer the most affordable in the market. And that's sad news for consumer like us.

Taking of which, sometimes reviving a trend may need a complete makeover or a overhaul. As a person when I buy stuff, I would often compare, why not get it from Fab India or pantaloons or shoppers stop if the rates are same overall. Why not get it from Max which offers affordable wear? Why would I invest my penny in something that offers the same as it used to years back but with double the price.

Now, obviously I have been oblivious of insiders story. They may have their own budgets, the inflation and etc etc.

As a newcomer, you may still like it.

But as a trusted customer, I tend to think.

In fact, when online is huge, if Westside launches an online store in parallel to their on store stuff,

People might be attracted like honeybees, there stuff is still good when you happen to browse through it, pretty decent stuff. The collection of NUON tends to gravitate towards trendy however the fabric sometimes used is very thin which doesn't make it my all time favorite.Although I have bought a lot of NUON's in its all glory.

For me this dress worked and its still working, its an oldie goldie. And this is from one of the vacation we took to Native Village Bangalore .The Native Village reviewed on my blog Ankionthemove is a great place to unwind. We played Gilli Danda, Fly Kites, rode a bullock cart and even made pots in pottery class.

Avirate Dresses For Women : From India to New Jersey , New York

A friend of mine a couple of years back asked me,

I wish to give my fiancé a dress.

And the only brand that came to my mind

That appeals to modern women essence of Sensuality

was Avirate.

More than likely, you see the stores of them in malls,

However, they also have their online collection on Jabong, Myntra, Fashionara etc and the sale online is more frequent.

I love their fit and I love the quality of it! The quality is optimum.

Unlike many brands which doesn't cater to curvy women,

This brand has near perfect sizing for all sizes. Fits you like a glove as if made for you.

Best part is many of their dresses come with padded foam inners so that you don't have to wear a separate bra. They also do come with side or back zip to get you in and out.

Also, its favorite with many journalists / media people.

They also have very sophisticated length - most of them ending just above the knee.

Some of them are shorter too, and longer too,

You can never look raunchy in Avirate,

But Sensual and classy a lot.

The prices are a bit high end (i.e 2500-3500 and up for dresses and 1200-1800 for tops)

However on 40-50-60% sales online or on store, its a steal.

I remember I used to buy a lot of them on sale,

And I would get dresses for 900-1200 etc for my birthdays, for parties and even for travel.

So when I moved to New Jersey, and I saw this view on my back of New York across the Hudson River,

We found our companion.

Look at how blending the tall skyscrapers of New York look with my dress!

They literally make a team.

My First Jabong.com Experience

It was my first time at Jabong.I didn't know if I was doing the right thing.May be because It was my first time,or may be because buying something I never try personally was not my idea of shopping.But the voice in me was assuring,I knew my pals wouldn't be shopping without reason.There's something in the site which is catching up real fast with the youth,and before I knew it,I was hooked to it.I thought to myself,even if I shop for myself or I do not today,my eyes are treated to a variety I can only imagine in Malls.

Or may be more.I didn't wanted to spend more,after all It was my first time.I had the same doubts "what if the size wouldn't fit,what if the pictures are deceptive,what if I do not like what I get etc etc.So with the meager 750 Rs budget,I started shopping at Jabong. The price scroll was convenient,I just had to put in 0-750 as my price range and voila the site opened up to almost 2k+ search results.Despite so many images at one go,the page load was fast.I expected it to be different,and I thought the clothes would be just regular.But the variety was surprising.Brands on discount or without discount were all in one page.I remember we had a option to check only the discounted products from a drop-down.

So as a first timer,I was impressed with the below listed factors:

Variety: Online shopping now has taken a completely different turn.Long gone are the days of only Ebay and Amazon,the Ecommerce portal like Jabong provides people like us a variety to shop just sitting at home.For each category,the variety was remarkable.Under each section,the size chart was described as S,M,L,XL with their respective dimensions.I chose to go safe.'M' is what usually fits me in Malls,so I went with M.I loved the cuts and shapes of some of the designs.Since Diwali is around the corner,I couldn't stop myself of thinking about Ethnic wear too..And voila! Here too the collection was great.

The portal however lacks varieties when it comes to Long Skirts,Printed Trousers,Heels,Accessories and Jumpsuits.I think they are yet to add on a few garments.I loved their collection of Bedsheets,Tops and Dresses.And so,I treated myself with the one that I liked most,the white jumpsuit on discount costing me just Rs 750.It fitted me perfectly.

Delivery: When I had ordered I got a mail saying the estimated time of delivery is 14 days.Since this was my first experience at any ecommerce portal,I thought 14 days is a little too much.And then when I got my dress in 2 days flat,I was jumping with joy.It all happened with a simple sms on my cellphone,your delivery is on its way.Later after consulting some of my friends,I got to know all ecommerce portals have time gap span which they quote to which they deliver is way faster than quoted.Since I had opted for Cash on Delivery,I paid the quoted price to the vendor on arrival at my home.

Fitting: Ok,this was something I was a little paranoid about.If I don't try I wouldn't know is what kept coming in my mind constantly,but gladly the dress fitted perfectly,as if made for me.As if they knew my body type.So all in all I am happy..and that makes me another Jabong fan.
